It’s easy to join Freemason but many are scummers here is how to join the fraternity

I am in Kenya and I want to join Freemasonry. What should I do?

Answer.

Freemasonry is not a gym to be joined by every person at will. It is a selected members club and if you posses qualities that support their ideals they will identify and locate you using their set parameters. these are secret members clubs with strict set rules and what goes on in there may make your life uncomfortable with your loved ones so you must be very careful before joining them.

If you’re interested in joining Freemasonry in Kenya, you can start by reaching out to local Masonic lodges or Grand Lodges for information on how to become a member. Here are some steps you can take:

1. **Research**: Learn about Freemasonry, its principles, and its history to ensure it aligns with your values and interests.

2. **Contact a Lodge**: Reach out to a local Masonic lodge in Kenya. You can find contact information online or through local directories. Express your interest in joining and inquire about the membership process.

3. **Meetings and Interviews**: Attend meetings or interviews with members of the lodge to learn more about the organization and to discuss your interest in becoming a member.

4. **Application Process**: If you decide to proceed, you’ll need to complete an application form and submit it to the lodge. The application process may also involve background checks and interviews.

5. **Initiation**: If your application is approved, you may be invited to participate in initiation ceremonies to become a Freemason.

6. **Membership**: Upon successful completion of the initiation process, you’ll become a member of the lodge and gain access to the benefits and opportunities available to Freemasons.

Remember that Freemasonry is a fraternal organization with its own rules, rituals, and requirements for membership. It’s essential to approach the process with respect and an open mind.

How can I ask to become a Freemason?

Simply stated, you gotta ask a Mason to become one, believe in God (whatever you personally call him,) and be of moral character.

I’d been thinking about finding out how to join for years. I petitioned my Lodge about 2 years ago when I found out a good friend of mine just became a Mason.

In Nairobi, you need to ask another Master Mason to become one, fill out a petition and get signatures of other Masons to vouch for you. As my friend was not yet a Master Mason, he asked his mentor if I could come to a dinner or two and get to know the brethren. After a few meals, I got to know enough of “the guys” that I got all the signatures I needed on my petition.

One thing to be careful of – be sure you’re joining a “regular Lodge.” That’s a Lodge officially recognized by the Grand Lodge of your state. You would know you’re at a Regular Lodge if the Lodge’s name includes AF&AM, F&AM, or a few others, but these are the most common.

Big red flags would be if they start talking about large financial commitments. I belong to one of the “expensive” lodges in my area and the dues are only $100 a year. There will be some fees for each of your 3 degrees, but nothing exorbitant. If you’re being asked to make financial commitments of $1000s a year – big red flag. Another BIG red flag is if you hear anything about the “US Grand Lodge” or such. There is no such thing in Regular Masonry in the US – each state’s Grand Lodge is sovereign and doesn’t report to a “national” Lodge. I haven’t experienced, personally, any irregular Lodges, but have heard stories. You’ll want to be associated with a regular Lodge, because as you progress, you’ll have the right to “travel” which means visiting Lodges in other jurisdictions. If you’re not a member of a regular Lodge, you’ll find out pretty fast when you first try to visit another Lodge. A big part of being a Mason is having friends and Brothers world-wide.

One last thing. One of the first things you’ll learn in the process of becoming a Mason is patience. It takes some time – sometimes several months – from first expressing interest to going through the petitioning process. Don’t get discouraged. A lot of Lodges meet only once per month, so it takes time. Typically they’ll read your petition one month and assign a couple Brothers to meet with you and your family, then another meeting to vote on your membership. Take this time to go to the pre-Lodge meals and get to know people. Also ask if there are any public meetings you can go to. Before I was accepted I was able to attend an Officer installation, a 50-Year Recognition and a 70-Year Recognition.

Sorry, this went a bit beyond what you asked, but I really feel becoming a Mason is one of the top-5 things I’ve ever done and anything I can do to help someone who is interested & sincere, I’m all for it!
